White Wash 2011 Otway Odyssey 100km

Stephen competed in his first 100km Mountain Bike Race from Apollo Bay to Forrest.
" Man what an event, this event tests your fitness, , strength , endurance and mental stamina'' stephen added.
It all started the night before the race when rain storm after rain storm turned all the trails into slush and mud.
Race start 7.15am 1,000 riders lined the main street of Apollo bay, and it was on , we all took off and headed to the first climb out of Apollo bay.
The first climb sorted out the pac and never have I seen the power of nature blow riders off there bikes near the top of the mountain. Then we hit the forrest, all I can say is , I have never walked my bike through so much mud, it was knee deep in places, bikes were all clogged up with mud, so we carried our bikes for some of the way, had to be careful riding down the hills with harding any control of your bike, riders falling off every wear. Then we hit the single track and it all made what we went through worth it. As time went on, your brian playing mind games to find out how much pain you could go through. At the 67km transition point, we had a chance to refuel with food and drink and prepare for the final 33km. More climbing, more mud, legs screaming in pain, but you motor on. Then the final sign , 10km  to the Finish and then riding into the Forrest Football oval and riding through the finish line. " It was very satisfying to say I've ridden Otway Odyssey" stephen added. Finishing 437th , only 624 of the 1,000 riders finished, thats how punishing this event is.

The Australian F1 Grand Prix is back in town for 2010 . There was a whole host of celeb’s from Hamish and Andy and I had the pleasure of Shannon Ponton  and Michelle Bridges from The Biggest Loser. I gave Shannon some driving tips while tearing around the circuit and he gave me some fitness tips. “ Fair trade I say ‘. Stephen is still finalising his plans for 2010, and looking forward to getting behind the wheel of a Fujitsu V8 Supercar again.

February started with a bANG!

“ Lets get 2010 started with a BANG “ said Stephen when having his first steer of a V8 Supercar for 2010. How lucky am I, on my come back to professional driving again to have 3 V8 tests in 6 months.  A total of just over 30 laps now in the bank. After testing  with Jay Motorsport in November 2009 in 45deg heat. It was time for another drive, and this time, at the fast Phillip Island circuit in early  February.  The  ex pole position Bathurst BA falcon of Mark Larkham was the vehicle. My first drive of a BA falcon, isn’t it amazing how different every car feels. I did a total of a dozen laps under the eyes of car owner Terry Whyhoon. “ Stephen did a great job in our car, he showed good speed straight away and that he can still do the job ”. Still finalising sponsor deals, Stephen said “ Really looking forward to signing a deal and  competing at the first round in Adelaide at the Clipsal 500 in March ".
