MCNALLY ON THE UP AT BATHURST IN V8 UTES
10 October 2008

Glenn McNally completed his first race in the V8 Utes at the Bathurst 1000 unscathed today in 20th position, improving his lap times yet again.

With only one practice session before qualifying on Thursday McNally was at a distinct disadvantage having never driven the circuit before but knew that he would improve as the meeting progressed.

“I started off about 12 seconds off the pace, qualified seven seconds and was less than four seconds off in the first race.

“It was important to get a finish under my belt here as it is a tough track in any category.”

Although Glenn didn’t make it into the top 16 for today’s reverse-top-16 race he made some serious inroads early in the race before settling into a good pace.

“I couldn’t see the green light so I just took off when the guy in front hit the gas.

“I passed a few guys in the opening lap and just tried to settle into a consistent pace for the race.”

Glenn is confident of improving his speed and track position in race 2 and is focussed on finishing strongly for a better grid position for Sunday’s final race.

“I am definitely on the improve; all I can do is go out there and give it my best shot.”

Race 2 is at 9.20am Saturday before Sunday’s final race at 7.50am.
