MCNALLY’S MOUNTAIN CHALLENGE
8 October 2008
Glenn McNally will get his first taste of Australia’s most renowned circuit when he heads to Mt Panorama Bathurst for Round 7 of the V8 Ute Series.
West Coast Racing’s McNally is the Series’ leading Rookie after a stellar season so far in the competitive category.
With many of the series circuits new to the West Australian, Bathurst is the one that McNally is looking most forward to.
“Bathurst is the circuit you dream of racing at as a child and now my dream is coming true,” Glenn said.
“It is both daunting and challenging but I can’t wait to get out there.”
Recent testing at Oran Park saw Glenn give the Hitech Motorsport team plenty of work to do after he collided with the wall as he came onto the front straight.
“I just got a bit loose and the car kicked back and put me straight into the wall.”
The Hitech team got straight to work and were able to get the car back on the track for the following day’s sessions.
“Barrel and the guys did a great job,” Glenn said.
“They are extremely hard working and always take on whatever challenge is put before them.”
With numerous highlights throughout this year, Glenn is hoping to add to the list a strong performance at the ‘mount’.
“I came so close to a podium at Darwin and had really good runs at Queensland and Winton.”
With just one practice session before qualifying at Bathurst Glenn will take the same cautious approach that has served him so well this year.
“I will be aiming to be in the top 16 at the end of race 1,”
“That will set me up for the reverse top-16 race 2 on Saturday and from there anything can happen.”
Glenn will be cheered on by a large group of his sponsors who will make the trip to Bathurst.
“It is great to have a really good group of sponsors and I really appreciate them coming to the track to see me race.”
Glenn has practice and qualifying on Thursday with a race on each day from Friday to Sunday.
