LUCKY 13 FOR MCNALLY IN V8 UTES RACE 1
2 August 2008

Glenn McNally will start form the second row in Race 2 of the V8 Ute Series at Victoria’s Winton Raceway after securing a top-16 finish in Race 1 today.

McNally qualified 19th in this morning’s qualifying session and set about working his way forward to secure an upfront start in tomorrow’s reverse-top-16 Race 2.

“Qualifying was terrible,” Glenn said.

“I pushed too hard on my first flyer and ended up understeering off at the sweeper.

“I has two ‘offs’ in that session which is pretty rare for me and I only managed one flying lap.”

Fortunately Glenn was able to turn his form around a little Race 1 while still battling an unhappy set-up.

As the race panned out McNally kept pushing forward and taking the opportunities that arose to finish solidly in 13th position.

“I got past a few at the start and just kept at it through the whole race.”

“We struggled as a team today, Grant (Johnson) was slower than normal as well.

“The boys will work on the set-up tonight and hopefully improve it as I have to start from grid 4 tomorrow.

“Starting up the front should help me to pick up a bit of time as well because there is added pressure and a few faster guys that I can learn a lot off.

“If we can get a top result in Race 2 it will set me up for a strong finish in Race 3 and the round.”

Glenn will attempt to repeat his form from Queensland Raceway and Darwin where his Race 2 result catapulted him right into the action at the pointy end in Race 3.

Glenn has Race 2 and 3 tomorrow.
