STEADY START FOR MCNALLY IN V8 UTES AT WINTON
1 August 2008
Glenn McNally got off to a steady start in today’s practice sessions for Round 6 of the V8 Ute Series at Victoria’s Winton Raceway today.
The weather was all over the place today with dry patches before wind and rain hampered proceedings.
Using the first session for track learning Glenn still managed to post 15th fastest time, considerably better than the way he has started the past few rounds.
The second session was a little better and he finished 13th fastest while still building up to race pace.
“I didn’t get a clear run in the second session, I got caught behind a slower car and didn’t want to risk going onto the wet line to get past,” Glenn said.
“The track was a bit slower but I was further up the order.
“It’s a better start to the meeting than I had at Darwin or Queensland Raceway.
“And at both those meetings I ended up pretty close to the front of the field by the end of it.”
The meeting plan for Glenn will be the same as every meeting, qualify as high as possible and then make sure he is in the top 16 in Race 1 in preparation for the reverse-top-16 Race 2.
“I am really looking forward to tomorrow; we will throw a new set of tyres at it and see how we go.”
“The guys have been really good at tuning the car for each track and my driving style so it makes learning the track and getting up to speed a lot easier for me.”
Glenn has qualifying tomorrow followed by Race 1 with Race 2 and 3 on Sunday.
