HOT MCNALLY FACES COLD AND WET WINTON IN THE V8 UTES
31 July 2008
Glenn McNally faces a cold and wet Winton Raceway for Round 6 of the V8 Utes Series after coming off some strong performances in the hotter northern states.
After surprising the opposition at Darwin and Queensland Raceway over the past two rounds, Glenn will once again use the same tactics this weekend.
“I have already had a look at the track today,” Glenn said.
“I did a few laps around here when I first tested a ute so it will not be all new to me.”
With so many new tracks this season Glenn and his team has developed a basic program of learning the track and working out a good set-up for the car.
“The first session will be all about learning the track and only after that will I start to push the car harder.
“I will be walking the track Friday night to look closely at, and discuss the different corners and then try to build my speed up over the weekend.”
Glenn completed a solid day of testing Sydney’s Oran Park Raceway on Tuesday which was his first run on the circuit in a V8 Ute.
“I got going pretty well by the end of the day,” he said.
“It was all about getting miles in the car and by the end of the day my times were comparable to the other guys.”
After the success Glenn has had at the last two round he is confident but also cautious about any predictions this weekend in wet and cold conditions.
“I am just going to go out there and have a red hot go at it.
“The guys have prepared a brilliant car for me and now it is up to me to go out and make it happen.”
Glenn has practice on Friday followed by qualifying and Race 1 on Saturday with Races 2 and 3 on Sunday.
